Pre-Kindergarten
Saint Mary, Star of the Sea Pre-Kindergarten provides a warm, nurturing environment that features a curriculum that is both age and developmentally appropriate. Its goal is to provide "hands-on" learning experiences to enrich all aspects of a child's life; intellectually as well as physically, spiritually, and socially.
Religion:

Kindergarten
Saint Mary, Star of the Sea offers full day academic kindergarten in a warm, caring environment, conductive to learning.
Religion:
- children will acquire and appreciate a personal relationship with a loving God
- children will be taught how to make the sign of the cross in addition to learning the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be To The Father, and Grace before meals
- children will be exposed to customs of the church such as going to Mass each Sunday, genuflecting, and blessing themselves with Holy Water
- children will also be taught about the altar, crucifix, tabernacle, and Mary and Joseph
Language Arts/Phonics:
- children will learn to follow oral direction
- children will learn to identify position words
- children will develop letter/sound recognition
- children will acquire oral language skills
Reading:
- children will gain a foundation by being exposed to familiar stories using rhyme and repetition
- children will learn critical thinking skills
- children will develop reading comprehension skills
- children will develop an appreciation for literature
Computer Science:
- to introduce students to computers and their many functions in a "hands-in" environment integrating our curriculum with computer software
Printing:
- will improve letter recognition
- will develop fine motor skills
- will increase the child's attention scan

- will encourage curiosity by allowing students to perform simple experiments
Social Studies:
- will stimulate curiosity in children

Math:
- children will develop recognition of colors and shapes and association with color and shape words
- children will learn to compare objects by usual characteristics such as size, shape, and color
- children will become familiar with numbers and number concepts

- children will gain knowledge and experience gathering data and creating graphs

First through Fifth Grade
Saint Mary, Star of the Sea First through Fifth Grade students have a primary teacher with specialty teachers presenting Computers, Music, and Physical Eduation. Drug education is presented by the D.A.R.E. Police Officier assigned to the school by the Bayonne Police Department.
